Frequently asked questions
What is Seuil?
Seuil (French for “threshold”) is a mobile app for preparing to pass the TEF and TCF French exams. It builds a short, adaptive daily session around your goal and weak spots, covering reading, listening, writing, and speaking, with instant AI feedback on what to fix.
Which exams does it prepare me for?
Seuil is modeled on TEF and TCF tasks and reports estimated CLB and CEFR levels, targeting B1–C1 / CLB 5–9. It’s designed for people preparing for Canadian immigration French requirements as well as students and anyone serious about reaching fluency.
Do I need an account to start?
No. You can tap “Get started” and use the full app as a guest. Creating an account is optional and only needed to sync your progress across devices.
How does the AI feedback work?
When you speak or write a response, Seuil sends it for AI analysis and returns sentence-level corrections, an estimated CLB/CEFR level, and a clear “fix this next.” Feedback and levels are for practice and are not official exam scores.
Do I need a microphone?
Speaking practice and the conversation tutor use your microphone to record and score your French. Recordings are sent securely for feedback and are not shared. You can use all other features without it.
Is it free?
You can start practicing for free. Tap “Get started” and begin with one short lesson today.
How is my data handled?
We collect only what’s needed to run the app and personalize your practice, and we don’t track you across other apps or sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Can I delete my account and data?
Yes. Go to Settings → Account → Delete account to permanently remove your profile, progress, recordings, and submissions at any time.
